Tornado sirens

Bad weather today. It rained a bit at work but the show didn't start until I got home: tornado sirens, thunder, lightning, wind. Twice tonight I've gotten a call from Storm Force 31: I signed up to get calls when there is a tornado warning in my immediate area. The calls give a recording that says "Take Cover Immediately"...kind of scary.
The storm passed by fairly close, the main road I live off was mentioned in one of the alerts. There was a tornado and it did touch down, in a TRAILER PARK. What kind of black humor is that? LOL. Of all the places to TOUCH DOWN in this huge state, it has to touch down there. And, it felled a couple of trees on this really nice double-wide and split it in TWO. Which makes me sad.
ARen't many places on this continent that are conducive to placing mobile homes, and this entire state AIN'T one of them.
I filled out my FAFSA yesterday and tomorrow after work I go to apply at J.F. Drake State Technical College. I remember thinking I'd rather die than go to a community college.
Lookit me now, ma. GLAD to go. Feeling LUCKY to go. What did I do with that Art Institute Scholarship? AH, nothing, my friend. I threw it AWAY.
I could be designing the lights for Steppenwolf theater in Chicago right now, had I stuck with my schooling. But right now I'm sitting at a cheap computer desk with a big TV watching ER and contemplating going to bed on my mattress on the floor while listening to my roommate's dogs whine from their crates. And glad to be here, and feeling lucky to have what I have.
I do need to purchase a surge protector for this computer. It just became a necessary tool if I'm going to learn computer stuff in college this fall.
:)
